A warm evening with a hazy sun and a light westerly wind against riders on the climb up to the A246.

The winner was by Paul Haywood just over half a minute faster than Paul Thompson the runner up.

Mark Shepherd took the 1989 Memorial Trophy for the fastest handicap time plus the Anne Butler glass tankard.
Andrew Giller was 15 seconds slower in second place.
