Result of Club 10 mile event 3rd April on G10/42 the A24 Holmwood course

Thanks to Peter Cooke and Tony Rogers for timing, and to Tony Wells for helping at the finish.
Also to Steve Grout for putting out the warning signs for this course.
The afternoon was bright and dry with a cold gusty north easterly wind.
Not the best direction on this course, after flying to the turn riders found it a tough ride back.
After another long lock down there was a big turn out, usually only seen on warm evenings in the summer.
Paul Deen did a cracking ride only 46 seconds from his best time for the course, being fastest and handicap winner.
Paul Haywood also did a good ride for the day in runner up spot.
Second on handicap was Isaac Griffiths, the handicap king from last season.
Isaac’s partner Emma Dodds was our fastest lady, Mel Wasley didn’t finish after being caught by a strong gust of wind
There were seven riders without handicap allowances who either hadn’t raced before, or during the last season.
Some good rides were done, with new member Ryan Sharp the fastest of these, with a good time in his first time trial.
As far as I know this is the first event ever that we have had three lady members racing.
In the early 1990’s, there were two, Fiona Montague and Becky Renner, who both broke club records.
It was good to see that there were seven lady starters out of the 31 that rode.
Steve McCormick was out again taking many excellent pictures of the riders. (if using any of the images online please give Steven credit)
A great effort by Paul Deen to organise for the club what was one of the first events in the country, after time trialling was resumed.
Thanks to Peter Cooke for producing the result for the club.
